Scratchy Snake… Stuttgart Superheroes 🐍🦸

What sparks when Scratch-savvy students spot a slithering, scaly serpent?
Sudden squeals, scattered steps, and surprisingly smooth syntax!
While exploring the wilds of Tasmania recently (yes, we did hug and become a tree for real Python snakes!), we also tested something way cooler than wildlife – PyStage, a creative tool built by some coding superheroes in Stuttgart. PyStage lets you switch from block-based coding (like Scratch) straight into writing real Python code – all in a familiar interface that looks and behaves just like Scratch. Magic? Almost.
In a recent holiday workshop, we took young a Scratch fan on a journey – starting with their usual drag-and-drop fun, then jumping into actual Python code using PyStage. The surprise? They totally got it! The transition was smooth, simple, exciting, and empowering. Suddenly, “I’m just learning Scratch - here's another game and music or video story” became “I can code in Python! SSSSSssuper”
It’s amazing to see how Scratch is no longer the end of the story – it’s just the beginning. Thanks to the open-source legends in Stuttgart, coding kids now have a bridge into the real-deal world of Python.
Scratch on… and watch out for snakes 🐍😉
