This week and last, in Sydney lockdown, several students and I enjoyed learning about visualisations (in Tableau the older more formal french word for Picture) and what is likely better known and enjoyed by their parents - Harry Potter (J. K. Rowling series). Here, linked, is The Spells of Harry Potter. Author: Skyler Johnson.
An ongoing program (a mix of research, work and fun) aims to help parents (and their kids) who are home teaching to help them better understand how data skills are becoming more important in society, by equipping them with the right tools and resources for educational success, to improve kids’ data literacy. Children also use "Prodigy Maths" to cast spells in gamification (eg Maths based online competition tool - www.prodigygame.com). Have you a favourite Harry Potter spell? ...answers not on a postcard, but please feel free to comment wherever this is referenced/connected! So do you have one ... ? Feel free to help yourself remember several Spells in this children's visualisation linked above ...
